Leftist groups that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman accused of aiding terrorism wrote him on Monday asking him to withdraw his parliamentary immunity so they could sue him for libel.Speaking to reporters outside Sunday’s cabinet meeting, Lieberman complained about Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s opposition to forming a parliamentary commission on inquiry to probe leftist non-governmental organizations. He listed several organizations that he accused of terrorism, spying for Israel’s enemies, and preventing the IDF from defending the state.RELATED:Lieberman slams PM's opposition to NGO inquiries FM: Left-wing NGOs 'help terrorists, aim to weaken IDF' Lawyer Michael Sfard, who represents Yesh Din and Breaking the Silence, sent the letter on behalf of both of the organizations as well as Adallah. He wrote that if Lieberman did not agree to revoke his own immunity within 48 hours it would prove that he was afraid of the truth being revealed.“All of what you said, from the beginning until the end was deceitful, wild and bullying incitement,” Sfard wrote. “You know you have no proof whatsoever for any of your charges that you imagined. The organizations I represent advance human rights, coexistence and peace, yet you accused them of terror activity, spying, and helping enemies. These are shameful, unforgivable lies.”The Foreign Ministry said in response that there was “no reason to respond to criticism from every leper.”
