The request was made by Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen in a letter sent to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday.
Ankara is still running into trouble in Washington with defense procurement, as its airstrikes in Iraq and Syria are not making it new friends in the West.
The US State Departement condemned the two terror attacks on Friday, in which three people were killed and many other wounded, including tourists.
“These accusations are completely and demonstrably false,” said State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel.
Deputy Secretary of State Sherman met with Herzog at the State Department and conveyed the US's concern about the repeal of the 2005 Disengagement Law.
