The Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday it was deeply concerned about the escalation between Israel and Iran and urged normalization of the situation in the Middle East, after Israel carried out airstrikes on military sites in Iran.
"We urge all parties involved to exercise restraint, stop the violence and avoid a catastrophic scenario," the ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
