Zohran Mamdani defended his controversial proposal to raise property taxes in what he described as "richer and whiter neighborhoods," while also stating that billionaires shouldn't exist.

Two of the city’s most veteran Jewish pro-Israel Democratic politicians raced to praise Mamdani, a supporter of the boycott Israel movement.
“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor,” Trump wrote.
Mamdani claimed that “the path toward a just and lasting peace can only begin by ending the occupation and dismantling apartheid.”
Joey Saban a Democratic district leader from Brooklyn and political strategist, expressed his dismay at the implications of Mamdani’s win, particularly for the Jewish community.
The potential impact of a Mamdani mayoral stint on Jewish safety was one of the main concerns expressed to the Jerusalem Post. Additionally
Mamdani, is an outspoken critic of Israel who has long supported the movement to boycott it. He condemned Israel after the attacks of Oct. 7; and has defended the phrase “globalize the intifada."
Al Jazeera Arabic called the 33-year-old state assemblyman “the first Muslim candidate to capture a city-wide primary in America’s largest Jewish population centre."
“What started as an idea became something much bigger and more powerful than we expected,” he said. “This program is about learning from the past to make the world better.”
