On July 20, 2014, an armored personnel carrier carrying seven soldiers of the Golani’s 13th Battalion detonated an explosive device it had driven over in Shejaia. All seven on board were killed.
Commanders Bar-On's and Meldasi's soldiers had only completed their advanced training a week before entering Gaza.
Maor, who immigrated from Ethiopia, fell in battle near Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, deeply impacting both the IDF and his family.
The soldiers fought a lengthy battle with composure under heavy fire.
"The heroism of the fallen of the 13th Battalion accompanies us in every step we take," stated battalion commander Lt. Col. Tomer Greenberg.
The IDF stated that the behavior displayed in the video is unacceptable and contrary to the values of the IDF.
This is the first time that the IDF is participating in the multinational exercise.
The soldier and three other soldiers reportedly attempted to hide the assault from their commanders.
The rest of the unit will be required to complete a series of educational disciplinary activities before returning to their usual training and work schedule.
The soldiers were called in for a disciplinary conversation after laying down their weapons and refusing to train.
