The two protesters were part of the British pro-Palestinian group Youth Demand, aiming to protest UK arms sales to Israel.
Guardian writer Stuart Jeffries said, “Indeed, [the documentary] does a good job of demonizing Gazans, first as testosterone-crazed Hamas killers, later as shameless civilian looters..."
The protest calls for the British government to expel the Israeli Ambassador to the UK Tzipi Hotovely, and accused her of inciting genocide.
This comes after the number of antisemitic incidents in the UK doubled in the first half of 2024, as compared to the same period in 2023.
The activists took issue with the UoM's partnership with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University.
Despite the incident, the Jewish community gathered at the memorial to read the names of the victims and support hostage families in the area.
