Glushko rallies, advances to second round

The new-and-improved Glushko is adaptable and she is a fighter and was determined to play to the bitter end.

 DESPITE LOSING the first set and sustaining a leg injury against a higher-ranked opponent, Israel’s Julia Glushko (above) advanced to second round of the US Open last night with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Romanian Monica Niculescu.
