By JERUSALEM POST STAFF

Iran’s exiled crown prince, Reza Pahlavi, called for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to step down in a Monday press conference, saying he would lead a transitional government in Tehran.

“I am stepping forward to lead this national transition, not out of personal interests, but as a servant of the Iranian people,” Pahlavi said. “I have a clear plan for transition and national renewal.”

Pahlavi added that under his vision, Iran would transition into a democracy based on three “core principles” - Iran’s territorial integrity, individual liberties of all citizens, and a separation of religion and state.

This is a developing story.
